Artist of the Month: Matt Corby

I was completely convinced that I wouldn't have a new artist this month, because all I've been listening to is Lewis Watson and 5 Seconds of Summer, who are past AOTMs.

But thank God for Twitter!

Thanks to Georgia Wood's fantastic tastes in music, I have found Matt Corby. Last minute, last day of the month - but I'm positive he's going to be an obsession of mine (if he's not already haha)! He's 22, he's Australian, he has the voice of an angel.. And I'm fangirling just a little bit. Or a lot.

I've had this song on repeat all day - I'm even listening to it as I type this! It's just such a chill song, and it puts you in the best of moods. There's something that reminds me of Phil Collins, but I can't put my finger on it, it might just be the vibe.
His voice is beautiful, and he's ridiculously talented.. and I told myself I wasn't going to talk about his hair. But that hair!
xx
I know it's been forever, don't hate me!
I've been helping my brother move into his new apartment - excuses, excuses.
Blah blah.
But I was going to make a post about his new place, it's just not finished yet. It looks fine in person, but on camera it's kind of dull. So we'll have to accessorize before I can post about it.

April Favorites

Luckily, I wasn't disappointed in any products last month! So needless to say, April was a good month for me haha. I know I'm a bit late on this, but it's been storming lately, and I don't have any studio lights, so I had to wait for the sun to come out. Buuut enough excuses - let's get on with it!

I cannot express my love for this enough! It's very soothing and a great way to start and end the day. I'm not a fan of cleansing foams, because they tend to just thin out instead of actually lather. But this was surprisingly very good. You can't feel it doing anything to your skin until you wash it off. And you see results the first time you use it - which I love! I usually like something that feels like it's working, but this is such a good product, I don't even care how gentle it is.

This says it's a "bodifying glaze" but I've never put it throughout all of my hair, I only put it at my roots. But this is seriously the best. I find that a lot of volumizers give you great volume for the first few hours, and then throughout the day (even with a good amount of hairspray), it falls and goes lifeless - That is not the case with this one! The price seems a little steep until you realize you don't need much to get great volume. The smell is odd - not bad, just odd. It smells like Cherry Vanilla NyQuill mixed with kind of an ocean smell.. It's odd, but surprisingly not bad!

There's not much I can say about this besides the fact that it's just a really good toner. It makes my face feel extra clean, and leaves behind a very subtle, soothing tingling to the skin. It smells quite nice - very fresh and clean. It almost has kind of a very subtle cucumber scent, and I'm not a fan of cucumbers at all, but it's so subtle that it's actually very nice.

I really didn't want to buy this because of the name - I didn't want people searching for naughty things and finding my blog! But after months of searching for dupes, I came up with nothing and I caved. And I'm so happy I did! I love this, it's so subtle. It's just a lovely peach with a bit of gold shimmer to it.

I bought this a while ago at Ulta, because it was a cute little travel size and it was on sale for $3, and I mentioned it in a haul back in February. I haven't used it much until recently because I've been parting my hair in the middle, and need as much volume as i can get. I just sprinkle it on my part and gently rub it in, and I don't have to worry about showing to much scalp for the rest of the day - it's great!

I bought this a couple months ago - used it once, didn't like it, and it ended up staying in the back of my drawer until a few weeks ago. I love it now! I usually go for more of a full, long, voluminous look, but this is a great change. And it amazes me how just a slight change in brush creates a completely different look - always has, always will.

So what did you guys think of these favorites? Have you tried any? If so, do you agree with my opinions or no?

Givenchy Haul / First Impressions

Hello lovies!

It's been a while since I've posted anything, feels like it's been months! Luckily, it's only been a week, so I don't feel too bad about not updating! So, my parents went on vacation a few weeks ago and decided to spoil themselves with some Givenchy products. And little did they know.. spoiling themselves also meant spoiling me! ;)

Le Soin Noir - $380.00

Le Soin Noir is an anti-aging moisturizer, and it says to use it day and night, but it does not dry well at all, so I only use it at night. The moisturizer is made from Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate is a natural age-defier that "restores communication between the skin's cells", "helps maintain and prolong cellular longevity," and "leaves your complexion firm, glowing, and even-toned" - who doesn't need that?! Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate is very sensitive, you cannot touch it with your hands or it will contaminate the entire jar - so it comes with a little spoon to scoop it out with! Obviously, I don't use it often - a) because of the price, and b) I'm 18, I don't need expensive anti-aging creams. I only use it when my skin's on the drier side and needs a little pick-me-up!

Obviously, I am not a man. This was for my father, and he still does not use it! But I just wanted to discuss how good this smells. It smells like a manlier version of the Swan and Dolphin hotel in Orlando, which is like a fresh-springy-beachy-floral scent. It smells so good!

Le Soin Noir Yeux is the eye cream version of the Le Soin Noir moisturizer. It promises what most eye creams promise: "reduce puffiness", "brightens dark circles", "smoothes and evens out the entire eye contour area." I've only used it once, I didn't notice a difference like I did the first time I used the Le Soin Noir, but that is because it's an eye cream, I just didn't want to keep using it when I didn't really need it that much.

Umm.. Where do I start with this? It's not bad, it's just not that great. You know? It's okay. I think I just expected more from it. It doesn't have a strong scent, which is good, but I'll definitely be sticking to my Hope in a Jar.

I honestly haven't tried this one, and considering what the Hydra Sparkling moisturizer is like, I probably won't be impressed. Also, funny story, I've lost it since the day I took these pictures.. Can't find it - but it's somewhere around here! When I find it, I'll try it.

This came as a free sample, and it smells so good. I'd definitely say it's a scent for all ages, because it's light and floral, very pretty and feminine, but it's also mature. I'm someone who sticks to one perfume until I'm sick of it. I like to have a scent that really captures my personality, so I'll change my perfume when I feel it doesn't fit me anymore. But I know a lot of people collect perfumes, and wear one during the day and a different one at night, or for different occasions - and for those people, I'd say this is a great day perfume, and definitely great for work!

Green - N/A / Black - $86.00

These were also free samples, we got two of each, and I have not used them yet. I can not find the No Surgetics Plasti Sculpt Lifting Mask anywhere online - so if you know what it does, please tell me! As for the Black For Light Mask, I'm really excited to use it. It says it is a "unique mask with a black, velvety foam texture and luminous particles that purify the skin," and promises that "after use the complexion becomes amazingly brightened and bursts with freshness and vitality," and "the skin radiates a new glow, as if illuminated from within." And that just sounds nice, and I'm just excited!

So have you tried any of these? If you have, make sure you leave a comment, telling me what you thought of them!
